How to make a Ring Pillow – DIY

Ring pillow is used for weddings. There is no much information as to where and how did this tradition start but mostly it is seen in Western countries and now it has been followed by many countries around the world.

The ring bearer, traditionally a small boy aged four to eight, walks down the aisle just before the flower girl, carrying a pillow with two rings tied to it. You will probably want to choose a young family member. Perhaps your first or second cousins already have children. You can also choose a Godchild or a family friend.

If you have a sewing machine at home and a little experience with needlework, the step-by-step instructions provided in this article will help you to make your very own personalized cushion for the ring in no time.

If you are going to walk down the aisle in the coming days and want to give a personal touch to your ring cushion, you can make your own ring pillow which complements your wedding theme and looks way better than wedding cushions available in stores.

The first thing which you need to do before starting with this sewing project is to determine the design or pattern of the pillow that you want. You can flip through the pages of bridal magazines, Pinterest, to get some inspiring ideas.

You will need a pencil, a satin or silk fabric in the color of your choice will make the perfect pillow cover, matching embellishments such as lace, ribbons, beads, buttons, sequins, a small pair of scissors, hot glue gun, a few pins, needle, cotton and threads. Keep the pillow dimensions in mind while buying the fabric from the market.  Now get going on the job.

Stitch the fabric for the pillow along the length (facing the correct sides to each other) and then, sew the lace trimmings, beads and buttons onto it as per your desired design. You can also use the hot glue gun to stick sequins and coloured beads. Do some embroidery on the side and sew onto the pillow like a regular pillow cover. Your ring cushion is ready in a few easy steps!
